Need suggestions for ISB235

Recommended Posts

I can't seem to locate any about the SO California (235HP).

I have an early '04 with the 235 engine, 4" turbo-back exhaust and 50HP Energy injectors. Otherwise stock, including a stock 48RE.

What would be the best tune to tow a 12,000# trailer? I see the 305/555 it's recommended to run the SW2, but since my engine is rated lower from the start, does this mean I should run SW3?

I don't want to blow anything apart, but this 235 has been a dog since day one.

p.s. I'm not in Cali, so no smog tests here.

Help?

Good evening!

Keep in mind that with the SO trucks, your Smarty JR will bring the level up to the same as if it were actually an HO truck.

Thanks, Brian. So I am to understand this right, my ISB235 is actually 405hp at the flywheel on SW3 (round numbers for simplicity, of course) like the 305/555 trucks? Probably shouldn't tow on SW3, then

Good afternoon! You are correct. As to towing on SW 3 on the Jr, one must remember not to drive with lead in your boots. Driving habits are the cause of transmission demise. Our official recommendation is SW 2. However one can get away with higher softwares depending on your driving style. That would be your call.

Thank you!
