Understanding update release numbers

Recommended Posts

I recieved my Touch recently and as always wanted to see if I had the most recent updates. Here is where it confuses me.

I retired from a refinery and we had updated programs from several different companies. And each had it's own classification of updating numbers, which can be confusing until learned of their practices.

The version I have on my Touch is: 00001.00.21

The latsest update listed for the Touch is: 1.0.21.

Now this my be simple for Smarty, but dealing with other companies, this can AND can not mean there is a difference between them. So, is this the same program or not ? If the same I can understand the way Smarty does things. If it is different, them I will know when there is an update change in the future.

Help out an old man please.

Thanks.

Thanks Brian.

As I mentioned, dealing with so many other companies when working, the middle two zeros could have meant, same program but base codes changed to now new standards. So it was a bit confusing to me not knowing what Smarty codes are.
